Florida can get hot. Your employees will thank you for paying attention to the maintenance of your commercial air conditioning system. Here are a few things you can do yourself to ensure that your AC keeps running smoothly.
Keep an Eye on Air Filters
Your air filters are important because they help your HVAC system push air through the building efficiently. When they are clogged, your air conditioning equipment has to work harder to keep air flowing. Replacing dirty air filters is something you can easily do on your own.
Keep the AC Clean
Both indoor and outdoor components of the AC should be cleaned on a regular basis. This is especially the case during a change of seasons, such as from winter to spring and summer, when the AC might have collected some debris from not being operated for a while. Your user manual should give you instructions on how to clean your particular unit. Make sure the power is shut off to the air conditioning system before you begin to clean it.
Keep a Service Schedule and Records
An AC technician should come to your property at least once a year to inspect your AC unit. Keep a record of these visits and note any problems that were fixed. During a service visit, your air conditioning service rep is likely to check for damage to components, top off refrigerant levels, clean condenser coils, and check to see if there are any leaks in your AC’s ductwork. At that time, you’re welcome to schedule repairs as needed. Regular service is a key part of maintenance, and it could save you thousands in the long run if you’re able to catch a problem early on.
